New DEEL Winter Conference 2007: What do we mean by democratic and ethical leadership in an era of contention?

Call for Presentations

The spirit of possibility has inspired us in framing this year’s conference.  On the one hand is fear: we still face a world threatened by war, environmental destruction, and growing inequality. On the other hand is possibility: new voices are emerging offering a glimpse into a socially just world. Standing at the crossroads between fear and possibility raises critical questions for the New DEEL:

-How can we bridge the gap that separates schools from other institutions and organizations to create a whole democratic and ethical community?

-How can we make the values of democracy and ethics in educational leadership a central part of the discussion in the coming election year? What educational agenda do we want to see?

-How can we deal with the real dangers facing our world while at the same time pursue a compelling, positive vision?

Additional topics on issues you think are key to democratic and ethical leadership are welcomed and encouraged.

Submission

A proposal of no more than 100 words outlining the topic/area of the presentation should be submitted via e-mail to Kristina Corey Legge at kcorey@temple.edu by January 10, 2008.
