Educational Leadership Master of Education (Ed.M.)
Higher Education Concentration

The Educational Leadership program prepares accomplished principal and superintendents for school and district leadership. Within a social justice framework the program focuses on ethical leadership in diverse, inclusive environments. Graduating leaders will have the knowledge and competencies to maximize learning opportunities and outcomes for all students and professional development for teachers and colleagues.

Degree Requirements

The Master's Program consist of thirty (30) semester hours of graduate course work or thirty-six (36) semester hours for both the masters's degree and principal certification. Students elect to specialize in one of two available program tracks: PreK-12 or Higher Education. Course work must be completed within four (4) years from the date of admission. The degree requirements for the Ed.M. can be completed fully online or in a blended format including campus-based and online courses.

Admissions Requirements

Admission is based on a combination of academic and personal factors. The applicant must provide evidence of successful academic performance and aptitude for graduate level study as documented by undergraduate and graduate grade point averages, Masters degree, scores on the Graduate Record Examination or Miller Analogies Test taken within five years, and performance in any applicable courses taken prior to admission. A goal statement and three letters of reference from instructors or supervisors familiar with the applicant's professional and academic work are also required.

However, applications are accepted throughout the year for both the fall and spring terms and reviewed in the summer.  Completed applications received by May 1 for Fall and November 1 for Spring are guaranteed a decision for the upcoming term. Applications received after the stated deadlines will be reviewed on a space available basis. We will review applications as soon as they are complete and notify the applicant in as timely a manner as possible.Late applicants may beable to begin as a non-degree seeking student completing up to 9 credits before formal acceptance.
