Rather than picking up the phone, Faculty and Staff should login to TUHelp (http://tuhelp.temple.edu) to report issues with email, blackboard, Owlnet and other services, or office computers, printers, and other equipment. Requests posted via this online system will receive priority attention.
If it is a Smart Classroom, use the HELP button on the touch panel to page for assistance. If the panel is not working, use a cell phone to call:
Mon-Fri 8:30a-4pm: Michael Field, Ritter Depot, Classroom Technology Support: 215-204-7758
Mon-Thur 4pm-8pm: Michael Ardron, Night Manager, Classroom Technology Support: 215-204-0798
Mon-Fri 8am-4pm: Lori Bailey, Director of IT, 215-204-6263
Regardless of whether you are making a purchase for your office, or for your classroom, your first conversation should happen with your Office Manager in your department. If necessary, your Office Manager will contact the Director of IT to assist with identifying the best technology solution, obtaining price quotes and completing setup/installation of new equipment.
Grant P.I.s should contact the Institute for Schools & Society, which provides faculty support for research projects.
There are two methods to manage a listserv:
The Urban Education Program and the Graduate Student Listserv are managed through Blackboard. Limitation: only students, faculty or staff with an existing AccessnetID can join; you cannot add people from outside the University. Emails can only be sent from within Blackboard, which does not currently support HTML formatted email.
If you want to create a Blackboard Community, submit a TUHelp request and include the preferred name of your community.
Details on how to create a listserv are available here: http://www.temple.edu/cs/isc/services/how-to/how_to_docs/listserv/listserv.html. Anyone in the world can join this type of list; not limited to Temple associated people. You can send email using HTML format (though users can choose to receive as text-only format instead). Users can also add and remove themselves from your list.
