Blackboard is Temple's primary online course management system. Blackboard enables instructors to provide students with course materials, discussion boards, virtual chat, online quizzes, gradebook, and more. The degree to which Blackboard is used in a course varies. For example, instructors may supplement an on-campus class by putting their syllabus and handouts on their course sites. In contrast, other courses may be conducted entirely through Blackboard, without any on-campus sessions.
Each time you teach a course for the first time, you'll need to create a course in Blackboard. After you create the course, you can reuse that course again and again each time you teach the course. Each semester, you'll need to "Recycle" the course -- removing materials that you don't need, disenrolling students from the previous semester, and enrolling your new students.
