Our doctoral programs are designed for those seeking extensive training in research methodologies that lead to careers in the academy or at the highest levels of school or college administration. The College of Education offers both the Ph.D. and the Ed.D degrees.
Education Psychology - Ph.D.
Emphasizes research in the discipline of Psychology as it particularly relates to education and education settings to advance the understanding of learning, cognition, human development, and instructional technology as these processes apply to educational processes and practices.
School Psychology- Ph.D
Provides students with an in depth knowledge of testing and evaluation diagnostic tools particularly applicable to schools and advances the scientist-practitioner model of learning and practice.
Urban Education- Ph.D
Is particularly focused to those seeking careers in the Academy and who wish to concentrate on the challenges and issues facing education in urban settings.
Educational Administration- Ed.D.
Primarily provides advanced preparation for an administrative career and prepares professionals for leadership positions in the direction and management of K-12 and higher education as well as positions as professors of educational administration.
Language Arts and TESOL- Ed.D
Offers students an opportunity to develop the theoretical, methodological, and pedagogical understanding needed to do research on the learning and teaching of language and literacy. Relationships among curricula, instruction, and educational policy within school settings and other social and institutional contexts are explored.
Science and Math Education- Ed.D
Addresses the need for high-quality professionals in mathematics and science education. Practice and research will be blended in a program that promotes both teaching and learning.
