IMPORTANT: Before you submit supplemental materials, please be sure you have submitted your Application for Graduate Study (available online). To insure prompt and accurate processing, you must include your 9-digit Temple Student ID with your supplemental materials submission. This is provided to you when you create your application online.
- Two (2) professional letters of recommendation [pdf]. Letters of recommendation should be obtained from those who can provide insight into the applicant's academic competence, at least one of which should be authored by a superordinate/supervisor.
- A statement of goals. The Statement of Goals should be approximately 500-1,000 words in length and should indicate your goals and objectives for obtaining a master's degree and certification in selected subject area. The statement should also include the following elements: your specific interest in Temple’s program; your research goals; your future career goals; and your academic and research achievements.
- A professional resume
- If applying to the Accomplished Teaching concentration only: Evidence of either a PA teaching certification or at least two years of successful practice in an educational setting that does not require certification is required.
Required supplemental materials should be sent attention to:
Graduate Programs Office
Attn. Application Processing
Temple University - College of Education
150 Ritter Annex
1301 Cecil B. Moore Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19122-6091
Please allow delivery and processing time before your application will be reviewed. For faster service, the College of Education at Temple University also receives supporting application materials for graduate admissions electronically via the Interfolio service.
STEP THREE: Submit Your Official Transcripts
Please request official* undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all accredited colleges or universities attended to be sent to:
Graduate Programs Office
Attn. Application Processing (Transcripts)
Temple University - College of Education
150 Ritter Annex
1301 Cecil B. Moore Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19122-6091
*Please note submitting unofficial transcripts through Interfolio may allow the graduate department to begin the review process but may also delay the review or decision process. All applicants who are admitted and have not already done so will be required to send an official, final transcript from their degree bearing institution upon admission. Transcripts from all institutions attended must be included even if the credits have been transferred and are shown on the transcript of a receiving college or university. Foreign credentials must be in the original language as well as translated into English. Foreign transcripts require a formal evaluation before an admission decision can be made. To expedite this process, you are strongly recommended to use the WES evaluation service (www.wes.org).
STEP FOUR: Submit Your Official Test Scores
You must submit all test scores electronically through ETS or testing agency. Arrange to have appropriate test scores sent to the Graduate Programs Office. The Temple University school code for GRE scores is 002906. There is no school code for the MAT.
- Official score reports from either the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). Scores must be current within the last 5 years.
- TOEFL for non-native speakers of English.
Note: Only GRE scores (not MAT) are accepted for application into the Applied Behavioral Analysis concentration. The GRE/MAT requirement will be waived for applicants in the Accomplished Teaching concentration.
Application Deadlines
To be considered for admission, your complete application, including all required supplemental materials must be received no later than:
- For fall admission: April 1 [December 15 for international applicants]
- For spring admission: October 1 [August 1 for international applicants]
Applications are processed together after the deadline date. We encourage applicants to periodically check TUPortal (http://tuportal.temple.edu) as to the status of their materials.
Completed applications received by the deadline are guaranteed a decision for the upcoming term. Applications received after the stated deadlines will be reviewed on a space available basis. Once an application is complete and all required materials have been received, students can expect to receive a decision within 30 days (excluding summer).
