Curriculum, Instruction and Technology in Education (CITE)

Our work with preservice teachers, inservice teachers, and doctoral students is grounded in the belief that education is a primary mechanism for social mobility and social justice. As a consequence, we seek to conduct research and to prepare doctoral students to do research that has the potential to improve learning and teaching, especially of historically underserved populations. We seek also to provide our inservice and preservice teachers with deep understandings of research and
theory
that will help them become reflective practitioners who are committed to serving diverse students and to becoming educational leaders and agents of change in whatever setting they teach.

Undergraduate Teacher Education Programs

The College of Education at Temple University is dedicated to preparing new teachers who, regardless of where they teach -- whether in urban, rural, or suburban schools; district-operated, charter, independent, private, or parochial schools -- are prepared with the most current, evidence-based knowledge and skills to ensure that all children achieve to high academic standards and develop as adults who can meaningfully contribute to society.

With this in mind, in 2008-09, the College of Education initiated a dramatic review and redesign of all of its preservice, teacher education programs.  These new and revised programs provide multiple pathways to initial teacher certification in Pennsylvania.
