The Abdullah Family

AOD Lifelong Learner Scholarship

Established in 2012 by The Abdullah Family to provide a book award for a degree-seeking, non-traditional undergraduate and graduate student returning to school, demonstrating academic merit and financial need

Bernard & Marie Granor Scholarship

The Bernard and Marie Granor Endowed Fund began with a gift from their children Alicia, Marshal and Sheldon in honor of their parents’ 45th wedding anniversary.  Bernard earned a BA in 1951 and a JD in 1953.  Marie earned her B.S. in Ed. in 1952. 

 

College of Education Scholarship

This distinction has been awarded to you in recognition of your scholarship application, essays, minimum 3.00 GPA, and your contributions to the positive atmosphere of the College of Education. 

Comcast/Central High School Scholarship 

Established in 2001 by Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. to provide scholarships for College of Education students who have demonstrated a commitment to teach at least three years in the Philadelphia School District. Preference to graduates of Central High School in Philadelphia.

Dalibor W. Kralovec Scholarship

Mr. Dalibor W. Kralovec received his B.S. in Ed. in 1934, M.S.Ed. in 1937 and Ed.D. in 1961, all from the Temple University College of Education.  He spent his life in the School District of Philadelphia and was the Director of the Division of Safety Education.  He was very active in alumni/ae organizations and was president of both the College of Education Alumni/ae Board and the General Alumni/ae Association Board of Temple University.  At his death, he left a large portion of his estate to benefit students at Temple University who have demonstrated exceptional academic ability, are involved in organizations on campus and in the community, and who promote Temple University.

Donald & Marge Griffith Scholarship

Established in 2009 by Donald L. Griffith, EDU '62, to provide awards for students enrolled in the College of Education who have financial need, with preference given to students beginning their sophomore year. 

Dorothy Flood Dissler Scholarship

Established in 2006 in memory of Dorothy Dissler to provide scholarships to Temple University graduates who return to the College of Education to receive a graduate certification in math or science.

Dr. Albert J. Mazurkiewicz Award

The Dr. Albert J. Mazurkiewicz Award was established in 2009 to provide awards for outstanding students majoring in science education within the Department of Teaching and Learning who have financial need and a minimum grade point average of 3.0. 

Dr. Alfred & Shirley Freeman Scholarship

Established in 1998 by Alfred (CLA ‘49, MED ‘53) and Shirley (EDU ‘47) Freeman to provide scholarships for juniors or seniors majoring in Early Childhood Education.

Dr. Mildred Rice Jordan Scholarship

Established in 2002 by Dr. Mildred Rice Jordan, EDU ‘65, ‘89, to provide scholarships for students enrolled in the College of Education who have a desire to teach in an urban school district. Preference given to students from the following high schools: Bartram, Ben Franklin, Germantown, Martin Luther King, Gratz, South Philadelphia, West Philadelphia, University High School.

Edna R. Green Science Scholarship

Established in 2003 by Edna R. Green, EDU ‘34, to provide scholarships for Secondary Education students who plan to teach general Science, Biology, Chemistry or Physics. Preference given to Philadelphia High School for Girls graduates.

Emma Johnson Scholarship

Established to provide scholarships for students majoring in Early Childhood Education.

Jane Adams Scholarship

Established in 2004 by the Andrew Allen Charitable Foundation to provide scholarships for students with an interest in a career teaching Special Education.

Kenneth Brennen Schlp Fund

Established in 2002 by Kenneth Brennen, CLA ‘62, ‘66, to provide scholarships for Secondary Education majors who are pursuing teacher certification in Physics or Chemistry.

Margaret Wang Scholarship

Dr. Margaret C. Wang was the founder and director of the Temple University Center for Research in Human Development and Education, Distinguised University Professor, and Professor of Educational Psychology was a nationally recognized authority on urban and rural school reform. The scholarship was established in 2001 by Dr. Yen Wang in memory of his wife, who died in 2000. To provide renewable scholarships to College of Education students.

Martha Moyer Ebbert,
Class of 1937 Scholarship

Established in 2008 in memory of Martha Moyer Ebbert to provide scholarships for undergraduate students majoring in Early Childhood Education.

Robert J. Flynn Endowment

Established in 2000 by Robert J. Flynn, EDU ‘54, to provide scholarships to College of Education students.

Robert J. Smith Memorial Scholarship 

The Robert J. Smith Memorial Scholarship is to provide scholarships for students majoring in education who have significant financial need and have demonstrated a previous commitment to urban communities and who indicate an interest or desire to teach in urban school districts in the Delaware Valley. The Smith Scholarship is renewable, based on recipient’s performance (maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA) and commitment to urban education.

Schlimm Family Scholarship

Established in 2000 by Loraine Schlimm, EDU ‘33, and Roxanne Schlimm, SBM ‘34 to provide scholarships. Preference given to graduates of the Philadelphia High School for Girls.

Waldo Rich and Bill Cosby Scholarship

Established in 2009 to honor Dr. Waldo Rich and Dr. Bill Cosby to provide support to undergraduate students in the College of Education.
