Welcome to the Center for Teaching Excellence at Temple University Website
Do you want an intensive free professional development opportunity for your teachers with proven results in improving instruction?
Do you want teachers who can improve students' learning and address high-needs students?
Do you want teachers who work effectively with parents and build collaborative learning communities?
Do you have great teachers in your school who you think have the skills and desire to pursue the highest credential in teaching?
Then encouraging your teachers to become a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) is the way to go. The $2500 tuition for each qualified teacher is being paid from State and Federal Grants.
National Board Certification is a voluntary and rigorous process that measures what a teacher knows and is able to do. Research shows that students of NBC teachers, particularly younger students from low-income families, perform better on standardized tests, especially in reading and math. Additional research has shown that being taught by an NBC teacher can equal an average of an extra month of school. You can see how having National Board Certified Teachers on staff can help close the achievement gap and achieve Adequate Yearly Progress while supporting you in building a community of learners that elevates teaching in a way that inspires and excites your school community. For more information on Dedicated to Making a Difference and understanding Why You Should Support National Board Certification, visit the School Boards section of the NBTS webpage at www.nbpts.org/get_involved/school-boards.
