Institute on Disabilities graduates Academy for Adult Learning participants

Academy for Adult Learning participantsOn Wednesday, May 14, the 2008 class of the Academy for Adult Learning (AAL), an initiative  of the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University, College of Education will graduate from their program after four semesters on the main campus of Temple University.

Kathy Miller, Assistant Director of Training at the Institute on Disabilities and the project manager for the Academy says “This year has been very satisfying for us at the Academy for Adult Learning. As is the case with all new programs, we had some ‘growing pains’ during our first year, but the students are wonderful and have exceeded our expectations!”

The Academy  provides an introduction to college for selected Pennsylvanians with intellectual disabilities, helping to familiarize them with college life  and assists them in building the skills needed for a successful transition from high school to the adult world.  In addition, the program helps students relate the importance of lifelong learning to career success. . .
