Getting Started

The Getting Started video tutorials aim to help you understand how to create, manage, and use the Wimba Live Classroom, a virtual meeting space for you and your students. When creating a Live Classroom, it is important that you take the time to review the available tools and features. By selecting the proper features and settings within your Live Classroom, you ensure that your students will have access to the various tools you wish to use.

Live Classroom Tools

The Wimba Live Classroom tools allow you to upload PowerPoint presentations, annotate slides with the eboard, and record sessions with the archive tool. Utilizing these features creates an environment similar to a live, on-campus classroom by using media student are already familiar with.

Live Classroom Features

The Wimba Live Classroom features allow instructors to create quizzes and polls to help gauge student comprehension. The Breakout Rooms are another feature that enables instructors to move students into additional rooms to discuss class topics, and most importantly engage in small group conversation. Review assignments, demonstrate a problem, or share personal photographs, with the Screen Share tool to share materials that cannot be loaded into the Live Classroom.

Voice Tools

The Voice Tools offered by Wimba are a great way to connect with students. Through Voice email and the Voice Board, instructors and students can connect by personalizing messages and feedback. Hearing voice feedback versus written feedback can be a powerful way to connect students and keep them active with class assignments. Voice Authoring and Voice Presentation are other voice tools dynamic tools that make students to record presentations possible within the online forum.
