In recent years, Digital Document Services has developed a method for faculty members to provide supplementary reading and classroom packets to their students through the digital print centers at the lowest possible cost. Our copyright clearance service is available to faculty and staff in agreement with the Academic Permissions Service of the Copyright Clearance Center in full compliance with applicable law. See Library of Congress for the text of the Copyright Law. Both a professor's own work and/or another author's previously published material can be incorporated in a packet.
Allow ample time for the copyright clearance process and the reproduction of packets. If the readings need to be available at the start of classes, please include this information when you submit your course packet
Clearances can take two to six weeks, depending on the publisher. Copying usually takes less than one week. We produce packets based on the class size as the required quantity, and we monitor registration for the class and section during the process. Based on experience, we know that class enrollment may be adjusted prior to the start of a semester. In an effort to produce only as many packets as needed, we apply reasonable judgment in determining how many packets to produce. If a packet is sold out, we will reproduce it within 24 hours with pre-payment. That is, the student pays for the packet in advance and returns the following day to pick up the copy reproduced specifically for him or her.Students may purchase packets at the Ritter Hall Digital Print Center, Room 234, on Main Campus. Click Here for a list of packets available at each of these centers.
