Diamond Marching Band
Membership in the Diamond Marching Band is open to students across
campus by audition. For membership information, please email us
at bands@temple.edu or fill
out our online form.
The Pride of the Cherry and White, the Temple University Diamond
Marching Band presents exciting and innovative contemporary shows
during the fall semester.
Band performances each year are varied and exciting. Activities
are carefully arranged so that the time involved should not be a
strain on your schedule. The Diamond Band performs at all home games
and also travels to select away games.
Throughout the years, other performances by the Marching Band have
ranged from participation in the first Sugar Bowl in 1935 when Temple
played Tulane, to trips to the Mirage Bowl held in Tokyo, Japan
and the Garden State Bowl at Giants Stadium. In addition, the Diamond
Band has performed for the “We the People 200” Parade
celebrating the bicentennial of our Constitution, numerous appearances
for the Philadelphia Eagles, high school exhibitions, and the Collegiate
Marching Band Festival in Allentown. In the Fall 2002, the Diamond
Marching Band also apeared on The Plaza in New York for the Today
Show.
The Diamond Marching Band’s large and diverse membership
provides challenge and excitement not only for instrumentalists,
but also for Colorguard members.

Basketball Band
The Basketball Band performs for Temple Men's and Women's basketball
games. This Band is known to fans for its spirit, support and entertainment
at these events. In addition to performing for home games, the Basketball
Band has traveled with the Owls to games representing Atlantic 10
Conference and NCAA match-ups throughout the country.

Collegiate Band
In keeping with the great tradition of university concert bands,
the Collegiate Band is active during the spring semester and performs
the finest in band literature. Past seasons have heard the Collegiate
Band perform at various events in the Philadelphia area, as well
as an annual spring concert on campus. The rehearsals are held once
per week and course credit is available.

Wind Symphony
The Wind Symphony is the premiere wind band of the Esther Boyer
College of Music, and is comprised of a select number of advanced
musicians. With repertoire that is representative of the finest
in wind literature, concerts regularly feature internationally known
guest soloists. The Wind Symphony was selected to be one of six
university concert bands in the United States to record a CD for
the Masterpiece Series of recordings released on the Toshiba-EMI
label, and is also featured on a CD on the Albany label. In addition,
the Wind Symphony has performed by invitation for the Eastern Division
of the Music Educators National Conference, the Pennsylvania Music
educators Association, and the Eastern Division conference of the
College Band Directors National Association.
