Mary Rothbart is a Distinguished Professor Emerita at the University of Oregon and a Senior Fellow of the Sackler Institute ofDevelopmental Psychobiology. She received her Bachelor of Arts at Reed College in 1962 followed by her Ph.D. at Stanford University in 1966. Rothbart has also received an Honorary Doctorate at Uppsala University (Sweden) in 2005.
Her research interests include humor in young children, attentional systems, and temperament (see her personal webpage for more information). As we learned in class, Rothbart is widely known for her theoretical and empirical work on temperament, which also includes the development and validation of these temperament assessment tools:
