Temple University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19104 (267-284-5000).  The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Accreditation Status

At its session on November 16, 2005 the Middle States Commission on Higher Education acted: "To accept the Periodic Review Report and to reaffirm accreditation.  The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2009-2010."

2005 Periodic Review Report (PRR)

In June 2005, Temple submitted its periodic review report.  The PRR, typically submitted five years after an institutions' self-study and evaluation team visit, is a "retorspective, current, and prospective analysis of an institution" (Source: MSCHE Handbook for Periodic Review Reports, Ninth Edition, 2004).  The goals of the PRR are:

  • To help institutions gauge their progress in achieving their own goals and objectives
  • To enable the Commission to assess the current status, as well as the future prospects, of institutions, within the framework of the Commission's eligibility requirements and standards
  • To fulfill the Commission's accountability to the public, the academic community at large, and its member institutions.
