Welcome to the Office of the Deputy Provost
Welcome to the website for the Office of the Deputy Provost. Deputy Provost Richard M. Englert, also Dean of University College, joined the Provost’s Office in spring 2003. The Deputy Provost provides focused leadership to review and improve the quality of Temple’s academic programs, strengthen teaching performance, and assure the high quality of educational opportunities at the University’s many centers and campuses. The Office of the Deputy Provost has academic oversight over several programs and activities including the Teaching and Learning Center and Periodic Program Review. The office also oversees all instances of accreditation at the University which includes the specialized accreditations held by Temple’s schools/colleges or programs, and the University’s Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) accreditation. University College, formed in 2004, oversees 4 regional campus, the academic programs of two international campuses, distance and summer programs, and extension services. The primary foci for University College are 1) to coordinate effective instruction and services to students across the regional campuses, centers and other locations; 2) to build capacity and support the special strengths of each of these locations in response to regional needs; and 3) to create the necessary flexibility to develop new initiatives that will expand the outreach of Temple University beyond its core Main and Health Sciences campuses and through summer, distance and non-traditional delivery systems.
