Temple University provides several opportunities for funding film and research projects.
There are two types of completion grants available for students working on film and media arts projects.
The FMA Departmental Completion Grant is available to students finishing both thesis and non-thesis projects. The grant is based on budgetary needs but does not usually exceed $1000 for non-thesis projects and $2000 for thesis projects. Grants are awarded in both Fall and Spring semesters by the MFA Committee. Application proposals are solicited in November and February. Contact the Graduate Program director for more details.
The University Project Completion Grant is highly competitive award available for the completion of MFA and PhD thesis projects. In order to qualify, a graduate student must have completed all course work and comprehensive exams. To apply, submit the proper student application form and the required attachments to the Gradaute Program director by the first Friday in October or the first Friday in March. All applications will be reviewed and ranked by the MFA Committee, and if chosen, forwarded to the Graduate School along with the department application form. Decisions are made by the University Graduate School. Recipients receive six months of support, including a cash stipend and 3 credits of tuition remission.
Funding is available from the School of Communications and Theater (SCT) for travel to festivals and conferences. Elligible students may receive up to $500 in travel funds per academic year. For details, download this memo. To apply, download this application.
