restorative dentistry

The Department of Restorative Dentistry provides predoctoral instruction in the disciplines of dental anatomy and occlusion, dental materials, treatment planning, operative dentistry, fixed prosthodontics and removable prosthodontics. In addition, Restorative Dentistry sponsors an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program which enrolls six first year students and one second year student annually. The AEGD program provides instruction and clinical training in andvanced interdisciplinary general dental care for a wide range of patients including those with special needs. Faculty research activities include molecular biology and microbiology of caries and periodontal and systemic disease, caries recognition and diagnosis, dental materials, restorative materials wear, dental erosion and abrasion, lasers, orofacial development, dental instrumentation, and dental implantology. Faculty regularly present and publish on advances in dental education related to restorative and postgraduate general dentistry.
