Sophomore Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric Dentistry D466 - Spring - Lecture
Pediatric Dentistry is and age-defined specialty that provides both primary and specialty comprehensive preventive and therapeutic care for infants and children through adolescense, including those with special needs. Pediatric Dentistry D446, will build on and modify specific aspects of restorative, periodontal, endodontic, orthodontic, and surgical principles so that diagnosis and treatment can be tailored to the primary and yound dentitions. This course is designed to prepare the undergraduate dental student for the clinical experience of treating children and adolescents in the Pediatric Dental Clinic and ultimately in a general practice setting.

Pediatric Dentistry D472 - Spring - Precinicical Laboratory
Pediatric Dentistry D472 will build on and modify aspects of restorative, endodontic, and orthodontic principles with regard to morphologic differences between the primary and permanent dentition. The therapeutic operations will be performed on the mixed dentition of the pediatric typodont. This course is designed to prepare the undergraduate dental student for the clinical experience of treating children and adolesents in the Pediatric Dental Clinic and ultimately in a general pratice setting.

 

Junior Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric Dentistry D666 - Spring - Lecture
Pediatric Dentistry D666 is designed to build on the concepts learned in the prerequisite pediatric dentistry course D466 abd also incorporates management of oral habits, pharmacological and hospital patient management, treating patients with special needs, and recognition and management of child abuse and neglect. Pediatric Dentistry D666 further prepares the undergraduate dental student for the clinical experince of treating children and adolesents in the Pediatric Dental Clinic and ultimately in a general pratice setting.

 

Clinic

Students in their junior and senior years perform all aspects of comprehensive and emergency care on children and adolescents.
