graduate dental education

Advanced graduate dental education at The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry is provided in a modern, three-story clinical facility with state-of-the-art equipment, separate clinics with private operatories, well-equipped laboratories, study areas, and “smart” lecture halls and seminar rooms with computer-assisted projection systems.
Clinical training programs leading to the award of postgraduate certificates are offered for qualified dentists in Advanced General Dentistry, and in the clinical specialty fields of Endodontics, Orthodontics, and Periodontology. All of these advanced educational programs are fully accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation, and contribute in part towards eligibility for board certification in the respective clinical field.

Students admitted into one of the postgraduate clinical specialty certificate programs at the School of Dentistry, and others in selected circumstances with special permission, may complete a research thesis-based Master of Science (M.S.) in Oral Biology degree program based at the School of Dentistry from the Temple University Graduate School.

A stipend is paid without tuition fees to residents in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program. Professional school tuition fees without stipend support are applicable to students in the postgraduate clinical specialty certificate programs in Endodontics, Orthodontics, and Periodontology. M.S. in Oral Biology students concurrently enrolled in one of the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry postgraduate clinical specialty certificate programs or the D.M.D. degree program will be charged the professional school tuition rate during the length of their School of Dentistry professional programs. If additional M.S. in Oral Biology coursework and/or degree requirements remain to be fulfilled after completion of the clinical specialty program or D.M.D. degree, then the Temple University Graduate School tuition rate becomes applicable for each semester of additional enrollment. Students not matriculated in any professional school clinical specialty certificate program or the D.M.D. degree will be charged the Temple University Graduate School tuition rate.

No dental school scholarship or fellowship funding is presently available for any of the graduate dental education programs at The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry.

Requests for application materials and additional information can be directed to the specific program directors, as well as to the Office of Graduate Education and Research, The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry, 3223 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140 (telephone: 215-707-7667; tcampbell@dental.temple.edu).
