The Center provides a program of Continuing Technical and Professional Development (CT&PD) experiences for teachers, administrators and specialists in career and technical education centers and comprehensive high schools throughout the seventeen counties of Eastern Pennsylvania. These services are delivered through seminars, workshops, academies, institutes, and a variety of other continuing development experiences that are available to personnel from all career and technical education content areas.
The purpose of the workshops and seminars is twofold: (a) to continue to provide regional technical and pedagogical updating experiences for career and technical teachers, administrators, and support staff and (b) to provide on-site, in-depth assistance designed to improve the academic competence of career-bound youth. All CT&PD experiences are designed on the basis of a comprehensive needs assessment, comprised of input from the following sources: a) scanning groups, configured sub-regionally, convened each fall to discuss needs and react to Center proposals for CT&PD experiences, which are then linked to the Centers overall advisory group, the Professional Development Advisory Committee ( PDAC); b) advisory committees, made up of volunteers from the group for which the experience is intended; and c) evaluative data collected from previous similar experiences.
Recent CT&PD experiences have included the following:
