RIGHT COLUMN TITLE
The Pennsylvania Department of Education issues teaching certificates to persons whose primary responsibility is teaching in the public schools of the Commonwealth.
The Department of Education develops teaching standards for each subject area taught in Pennsylvania and delegates to higher education institutions the responsibility of developing these standards into teacher preparation programs.
The Career and Technical Education Department at Temple University uses specific teaching standards to develop programs to certify teachers in vocational subject areas, as well as marketing and business education subjects. The teacher certification programs provide a course of studies either on the graduate or undergraduate level that requires certification candidates to demonstrate knowledge of and competency in their subject area.
Those persons interested in teaching Marketing or Business subjects shall seek Instructional Certificates. Those persons interested in teaching one of the Vocational areas shall seek a Vocational Instructional certificate.
