| Career and Technical Education (CTE) Reading Project |
Dr. Chester P. Wichowski directed the CTE Reading Project recently identified as a Promising Practice by the National Center for Research in Career and Technical Education. A result of the research is a Facilitators’ Guidebook for Reading Strategy Workshops in Reciprocal Teaching, Scaffolding, and Journaling. The content of this document served as the primary component in five years of Pennsylvania Governor’s Institutes on Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening (RWSL) as well as two week-long professional development workshops for Philadelphia CTE teachers. In 2009, a follow-up survey explored the effective use of reading strategies by classroom teachers who participated in the Governor's Institutes. Dr. Wichowsk reported on this reading project at the Association for Career and Technical Education National Conference in St. Louis Missouri November 17-19, 2011. |
