Four College of Science and Technology faculty have been elected in the past two years. Chemistry chair Robert Levis and physics professor Marjatta Lyyra have been elected as 2005 Fellows of the American Physical Society. They become the third and fourth faculty members of the College of Science and Technology to achieve this honor, joining physics professors Rongjia Tao and Zein-Eddine Meziani, who were elected 2004 Fellows of APS.” Story

Richard Fandino, a senior biology major, placed second in the poster competition at the Alliance for Minority Participation’s ninth annual Philadelphia Research Symposium and Mentoring Conference, held at the University of Delaware in early November. TUAMP Website

Leukemia researcher Tomasz Skorski has been awarded the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s prestigious Stohlman Scholar Award in recognition of his “outstanding contributions to the advancement of blood cancer research.”

The College is pleased to announce the establishment of the graduate conference travel awards effective January 1st, 2006. A Graduate Conference Travel Award is available to any full-time graduate student enrolled in the College of Science and Technology who seeks financial support for travel to a professional meeting where the student will present their research. Preference will be given to applicants with matching travel funds from a research grant. Departmental operating funds are not to used as matching funds. More Information

Students will develop a "sixth sense" about the best science story opportunities, learn to investigate,interview, and translate complex ideas into compelling prose. Topics will cover the fields of biotechnology,social science, healthcare industry, natural and earth sciences, space and engineering.
