The Masters program strives to prepare students for professional employment in industry or government or for advanced study in geology, business, or law through cutting-edge scientific investigation, classroom instruction, and teaching experience. Students graduating from the Earth and Environmental Science program will demonstrate qualities of academic excellence, integrity in their scholarship, and the capacity for independent original research.
Learning goals are focused on key skills that enable successful scientific investigation. These goals are summarized in the attached table titled Learning Competencies that also summarizes the learning opportunities for each skill or content knowledge associated with the degree. Course progression in the Masters degree is guided by the Research Advisor on a case-by-case basis to ensure students develop depth in a geological specialty.
