The length of time for the travel is expected to be between 4 and 6 weeks and should include interaction with individuals from other nations. During his/her travel, the recipient should be willing to participate in public diplomacy events arranged with the pertinent U.S. State Department Consulate, Mission, and/or Embassy. Following the travel, the recipient agrees to submit a report describing experiences and analyzing objectives achieved; share his/her experiences with others; and be available to make a presentation at the Annual Meeting of the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO.
Funding:Funding for this fellowship has generously come from private donations.

How to Apply. Undergraduate student participants in either Sites or Supplements must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions.
NSF funds a large number of research opportunities for undergraduate students through its REU Sites program. An REU Site consists of a group of ten or so undergraduates who work in the research programs of the host institution. Each student is associated with a specific research project, where he/she works closely with the faculty and other researchers. Students are granted stipends and, in many cases, assistance with housing and travel. Undergraduate students supported with NSF funds must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions. An REU Site may be at either a US or foreign location.

2. American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program for undergraduate minority students

The American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program is now accepting applications for the 2009-2010 academic year. This program is targeted at minority groups considered to be under-represented in the sciences- African American, American Indian and Hispanic or Latino students. Award amounts are based on financial need and can be up to $2500 per academic year for college freshmen, up to $3000 per year for college sophomores, and up to $5000 per year for college juniors and seniors. This scholarship is also available to students in two-year chemical technology programs.
Graduating high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply. The number and amount of awards are subject to available funding. Students in pre-med, pharmacy, nursing, dentistry, and veterinary medicine programs are not eligible for this scholarship.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is sponsoring the Motivating Undergraduates in Science and Technology (MUST) Program, offering support to undergraduate students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines across the United States. Opportunities: One-year competitive scholarship covering up to one-half of tuition and fees, not to exceed $10,000 per academic year. Description. The Intern for the Medicinal Chemistry Department will function as a fully-integrated member of a drug discovery team. Day-to-day research will focus on using organic synthesis to solve key challenges in the progression toward a clinical candidate for a therapeutic target. The intern will also attend departmental and team meetings to provide a wider perspective on the drug discovery process in the pharmaceutical industry. The intern is responsible for accurate notebook recording, reaction set-up techniques, use of vacuum evaporation devices, thin-layer chromatography, flash chromatography, basic workup procedures, basic NMR interpretation, basic MS interpretation, safe lab practices. Intern will have the opportunity to gain further knowledge and skill set in refinement of organic chemistry skills, introduction to new spectroscopic and purification techniques, methods for parallel synthesis, exposure to problems in medicinal chemistry, perspective on the practical aspects of drug discovery.

4. 8-week Taiwan Tech Trek 2009, Internship or Research Experience Opportunities
About the program. The National Science Council, in cooperation with Academia Sinica, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission, Department of Health, Environmental Protection Administration, National Youth Commission, Council of Agriculture, National Applied Research Laboratories, International Cooperation and Development Fund, and Taiwan Foundation for Democracy is pleased to announce an exciting internship program, Taiwan Tech Trek 2009 for overseas Taiwanese youths interested in hands-on internship or research experiences in Taiwan. Opportunities will be available to intern at outstanding research institutes or learn state-of-the-art technology at Taiwan’s famous science parks, national laboratories, and high-tech companies.
TTT 2009 is an eight-week program beginning late-June. Interns will participate in a five-day group orientation (June 24~June 28) and thereafter proceed to their designated internship positions throughout Taiwan for seven weeks of internship (June 29~August 15). At the end of the program, interns will have to present the results of their work at an academic conference.
Two types of internships are available:
A. Individual internships: The TTT Program Office will arrange internship positions at various host institutes and companies in Taiwan based on participants’ choices.
B. Special group projects: Interns will be teamed in groups of 4~12 people to conduct in-depth research into major issues in Taiwan such as future technology, Taiwan’s international status, etc. At the end of the internship, each group is required to submit a group project report to TTT Office.
