Homemade Earthquake!
The College of Science and Technology's 10th Anniversary Celebration Kickoff was a shocking success! Derrick Pitts, Chief Astronomer at the Franklin Institute, led nearly 100 3rd and 4th graders from Duckrey Elementary School in a test of the impact synchronized jumping had on a nearby seismograph. Fran Dunphy, Dean Dai, Earth and Environmental Science professor Jon Nyquist and a large crowd joined in a the final jump that registered off the charts! Local television stations 6 ABC and 3 CBS filmed short news pieces and the Philadelphia Daily News featured a photo in the November 18 edition of the newspaper. More information
