Youth Employment Project (YEP) is a program for out-of- school youth, which seeks to measurably increase literacy, numeracy, life, 21st century work readiness and occupational skills, and thereby improving one's ability to obtain employment or post-secondary education. The YEP program will re-engage 25 Philadelphia out-of-school youth whose ages range from 17-21 years old, and who are functioning at a six grade level or above. The program will focus on youth in Temple Universitys high impact area, North Philadelphia, but will not exclude youth from other areas. Targeted youth will have to express interest in obtaining their high school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma, Occupational Skills Training Credential or stable employment upon completion of their experiential learning experience. Youth will be exposed to experiences related to high growth industry sectors such as Information Technology, Health Care, and Manufacturing.
