Google Apps for Exchange Users
Exchange users have the opportunity to take advantage of Google Docs, Sites, and Instant Text Messaging used by Temple students, alumni, and many employees with TU Gmail accounts.
Features
With Google Apps, you can create and collaborate on word processing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, forms, and websites. You can also send instant text messages.
Some of the features of Google Apps include the ability to:
- Send e-mail invitations to view or edit your documents.
- Edit documents in real time with your colleagues.
- View the revision history of a document and access a previous version.
Access Google Apps
To access Google Apps, log in to TUportal, go to TUAPPLICATIONS, and click Google Apps. Then, select any of the following features:
Access shared documents
With Google Apps you can easily upload and share a variety of file formats such as .docx, .jpg, and .pdf. When you receive an e-mail notification that someone has shared a Google Doc with you, you can easily view the document. First, click the link in the e-mail. Then, at the Google Apps page, enter your AccessNet username and password and click Login.
Note that storage space for Google documents is unlimited; for other file formats, however, 1GB of storage space is available.
Important reminder
It is important that you do not include confidential information in documents that you store or share on Google Apps. Details about data security and confidentiality are available in the Temple University Technology Usage Policy.
