Registering (For TUresnet users only)

If you are planning to use the turesnet or turesnetextra network, you must register your computer before you can connect.

You do not need to register your computer if you are using the tusecurewireless network.

Connecting (For all users)

Note: Before setting up tusecurewireless or turesnet, verify that your laptop displays an active wireless connection. If the green connection light does not appear, activate the connection by pressing the appropriate switch or key on your laptop. For detailed instructions, refer to the user guide for your computer.


1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.

2. If Windows XP displays in the classic view, click Switch to Category View. category view

3. Click Network and Internet Connections. network and internet connections

4. Click Network Connections. connection

5. Right-click Wireless Network Connection and select View Available Wireless Networks. network

6. Click Change the order of preferred networks.

Note:
If "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection" displays, do the following:

a. Click Start > Run.
b. In the Run window, type
services.msc and click OK.
c. Scroll down to "Wireless Zero Configuration," right-click and select Start.
d. Click on the X to close the window.
d. Then, click Change the order of preferred networks and go to step 7.

7. a. Select the Wireless Networks tab.

b. Verify that "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" is selected.

c. Click Add.

8. At the Association tab, do the following:

a. Enter tusecurewireless or turesnet.

b. Click on Connect even if this network is not broadcasting to select it.

c. Select WPA2.

d. Select AES.

9. Click on the Authentication tab.

Then, do the following:

a. Select Protected EAP (PEAP).

b. Verify that the authentication options are not selected.

c. Click Properties.

10. At the Protected EAP Properties window, go to "Select Authentication Method" and do the following:

a. Verify that the Validate server certificate is not selected.

b. Select Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2).

c. Select Enable Fast Reconnect.

11. Then, click Configure. configure

 


12. Uncheck "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password..." and click OK. Then, click OK on any open windows.

13. Go to the Task Bar at the bottom of the Desktop. Mouse over the wireless icon and click Wireless Network Connection.

Note: This window may take a moment to appear.

14. Enter your AccessNet username and password and then click OK to establish the connection.

Disconnecting

1. To disconnect, go to the bottom of the Desktop and right-click the connecting icon. connecting icon

2. Select View Available Wireless Networks. avaialble networks

3. Click tusecurewireless or turesnet > Disconnect. disconnect

4. At the disconnect prompt, click Yes. disconnect

5. At the Wireless Network Connection window, go to the top right corner of and click X to close the window. close

Reconnecting

1. Right-click the disconnect icon at the bottom of the Desktop. disconnect icon

2. Select View Available Wireless Networks. available wireless networks

3. Select tusecurewireless or turesnet > Connect. connect

4. Go to the bottom of the Desktop and click Wireless Network Connection. wireless network connection

5. If prompted, enter your AccessNet username and password and then click OK to establish the connection. credentials
