Connecting to
tusecurewireless or turesnet

Windows 8 - Full Setup Procedure

• Registering
• Setting up a new connection

Registering (For TUresnet users only)

If you are planning to use the turesnet or turesnetextra network, you must register your computer before you can connect.

You do not need to register your computer if you are using the tusecurewireless network.

Register now

Setting up a new connection

1. Click the Desktop tile on the lower right portion of the Windows 8 main screen.
2. Click the wireless icon on the system tray (lower right portion of the screen next to the date and time).
3. If a tusecurewireless or turesnet network connection appears, right-click on it. Then, if the Forget this network appears, select this option.
4. Move the cursor to the upper right corner of the screen. When the Charms bar appears, select the Search icon.

5. Begin typing Control Panel until the Control Panel icon appears on the left. Then click the Control Panel icon.

6. Click Network and Internet. Sample Screen
7. Click Network and Sharing Center. Sample Screen
8. Click Set up a new connection or network. Sample Screen

9. Click Manually connect to a wireless network. Then click Next.

10. Perform the following:

a) In the Network name box, type tusecurewireless or turesnet

b) In the Security type box, select WPA2-Enterprise.

c) In the Encryption type box, make sure AES is selected.

d) Make sure Start this connection automatically is selected.

e) Click Next.

11. Click Change Connection Settings. Sample Screen

12. Click the Security tab.

13. Click Settings. Sample Screen

14. Perform the following:

a) Uncheck Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate.

b) Uncheck Enable Fast Reconnect.

c) Click Configure.

15. Make sure Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any) is not selected. Then click OK.

16. Click OK to exit the EAP Properties window. Then click OK to exit the Wireless Network Properties window.

17. Click Close.

18. To connect to the TUsecurewireless or TUresnet networks, refer to the Windows 8 - Quick Connect Steps.
