Residence Hall Wireless
Frequently asked questions

Does my residence hall room offer wireless Internet access?

If you reside in one of the following residence halls, wireless coverage in your room is available via the turesnet and turesnetextra networks:

Hardwick, Johnson, "1940", Peabody, Temple Towers, "1300", White, and Podiatry

You can connect a laptop or other device (e.g., iPad, iPhone, iPod, smart phone, or game console) to these networks. Before you can use the turesnet or turesnetextra networks, however, you must register your laptop or other device.

What is the difference between the the turesnet and turesnetsecure networks?

The turesnet network is your primary wireless network used for connecting laptops and devices, such as iPads and smart phones. The turesnet network offers full access to Temple's online resources, including Print on the Go remote printing capability.

The turesnetextra wireless network is designed for non-computer devices, such as game consoles. (Computer Services does not support or recommend setting up wireless printers at this time.) When prompted for a password or key, type templeowls.

What devices can I connect to the residence hall wireless networks?

You can connect a laptop, iPad, iPod, smart phone, tablet computer, or similar device to the turesnet network.

You can connect a non-computer device, such as a game console to the turesnetextra network.

Can I connect to the turesnet or turesnetextra networks anywhere on campus?

No. The turesnet and turesnetextra networks are for residence hall use only. For general wireless access througout campus, please use the WiFi4Owls or tusecurewireless networks.

Can I connect my printer to the wireless network?

No. Computer Services does not support or recommend setting up wireless printers at this time.

I am a Temple student, but do not reside in the residence halls. Can I use the wireless networks in the residence halls?

You will not be able to connect in a residence hall room. You will, however, be able to connect to the WiFi4Owls and tusecurewireless networks, in various common areas and lounges.
