| Welcome to the world of wireless networking at Temple. Temple University
has long been a “wired” campus with Internet connections
in labs, residence halls, and offices. Temple is now taking
networking technology one step further by implementing wireless
networks at various locations throughout Main Campus, HSC,
TUCC, and Fort Washington.
Temple’s wireless network is based on the WI-FI 802.11b
standard—the same standard used in Internet cafes, airports,
and other hot spots throughout the world.
Wireless networking is free to current Temple students,
faculty, and staff. To use this technology,
you need a laptop or PDA equipped with a wireless network
card. The card must be compatible with the 802.11b standard.
In addition, you must also have an AccessNet username and
password to register your laptop or PDA and to obtain the
network name and password.
Once you set up your computer for wireless access, you
will be able to connect to any wireless zone on Temple’s
campus, with the exception of a few restricted zones, such
as the Klein Law Building, which is only available to persons
affiliated with the Law School.
