About TUcloud

Computer Services is now offering a new "cloud computing" service called TUcloud.

TUcloud enables Temple departments to purchase computing and storage space on Temple's centrally managed servers. The servers are administered by Computer Services and reside in Temple's main data centers.

Departments can use the TUcloud service for web servers, file servers, or application servers.

Purchase only what you need

TUcloud frees up your department resources from having to plan and purchase hardware and perform day to day server maintenance, such as software patches and backups.

With TUcloud, you only purchase the services (computing and storage) you actually need. If you find that your needs change, you can simply purchase additional computing power and storage space. Because you do not own the hardware, you avoid having to commit to a major hardware purchase.

TUcloud is cost effective

TUcloud is a cost-effective alternative to purchasing your own departmental servers. It frees up your IT staff from managing department servers. The price is very reasonable and is based on the type of services you actually need right now, which can be easily expanded, if necessary.

Energy efficient solution

TUcloud is not only cost effective but is also energy-efficient as it makes use of a technology called virtualization. Virtualization enables multiple servers to run on one piece of hardware. This reduces the environmental impact to the university. Our virtual server infrastructure is energy efficient in comparison with separate physical servers.
