Introduction

This user's guide describes the features and explains the operation of the multibutton telephone.

Description

1. Handset
2. Ringer
The ringer is located directly under the handset. Audible signals indicate an incoming call.
3. Touchpad
This is a standard touchpad. Some features may be accessed by depressing a feature code on the touchpad. The feature code must begin with a star sign (*) or pound sign (#) and be followed by the appropriate digit key.
4. Feature/Line Buttons
Features and lines are accessed by depressing a single button.
5. Volume Control
Turning this knob adjusts the volume of the ring.
6. Feature/Line Lamp
The red lamp adjacent to each feature/line button has several signals:
    · Steady - feature activated or line in use
    · Flash - incoming Call
    · Wink - call on hold
    · Flutter - message waiting

Class of Service

Class of service determines the calling capabilities available on your instrument. Your phone is assigned a class of service to suit your calling requirements.

Tones

Tones generated by the system provide information about a call. Several different tones, heard through the handset, are the following:

  • Confirmation tone - two beeps
    Input accepted by system

  • Reorder tone - fast busy
    Input rejected by system

  • Call waiting tone
    One short ring - internal call
    Two short rings - external call

  • Ring beep tone
    Called extension is busy and call waiting is invoked

  • Busy tone - busy signal
    Dialed number is busy

  • Zip tone - quick ring
    A call has been forwarded

Voice Response Unit

The system contains a Voice Response Unit used to notify the user of features and call status. The voice response is heard through the handset. Some typical phrases are the following:

  • "Park number X."

  • "All lines busy; please hold"

  • "Extension X is not in service."

Ringing
The system uses different rings to identify the type of incoming call:

  • one ring - internal call

  • two rings - external call

  • three rings - priority call

To place an internal call:
· Lift handset.
      You will receive dial tone.
· Key in extension number.

To place an outside call:
· Lift handset.
      You will receive internal dial tone.
· Dial 9.
      You will receive external dial tone.
· Key in desired number.

NOTE: When you lift the handset, you receive a dial tone on your prime line. If you choose to place a call on an alternate line, simply depress the appropriate line button before you lift the handset.

Last Number Redial

The system automatically remembers the last outside number dialed and allows that call to be easily accessed.

To redial last external call:
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress Last # Redial.
      Last external call is automatically placed.

Call Pickup

Allows any instrument with an assigned call pickup group to answer any ringing extension within that group.

To pick up any ringing line:
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress Call Pickup.
      Call is retrieved.

Hold

To place a call on hold:
· Depress Hold.
      Line lamp winks.

To retrieve a call from hold:
· Depress line button with winking lamp.
      Line lamp remains steady.

NOTE: The exclusive hold feature prevents another instrument from retrieving a call from hold. Any instrument with the same line appearance will receive a steady lamp on this line.

Transfer-Unannounced

To transfer a call without announcing:
· Depress Trnsfr (3-Way Conf).
      Receive dial tone.
      Transfer lamp remains steady.
      Present call is held.
· Key in extension number.
· Replace handset.
      Call is transferred.

NOTE: If the extension to which you are transferring is busy or unanswered, the call will return to you with a priority ring.

Transfer-Announced

To announce a call prior to transferring:
· Depress Trnsfr (3-Way Conf).
      Receive dial tone.
      Transfer lamp remains steady.
      Present call is held.
· Key in extension number.
· Announce the call.
· Replace handset.
      Call is transferred.

To return to original party if unable to complete transfer:
· Depress Trnsfr (3-Way Conf).

NOTE: If the call is not accepted, the party to whom you are transferring must replace their handset.

Transfer-3-Way Conference

To convert a transfer into a 3-way conference:
· Depress Trnsfr (3-Way Conf).
      Receive dial tone.
      Transfer lamp remains steady.
      Present call is held.
· Key in extension number.
· Announce conference.
· Depress Trnsfr (3-Way Conf).
      All parties connected.
      Conference lamp remains steady.

Call Waiting

While engaged in conversation, you may hear one or two short rings through the handset. These are call-waiting tones and indicate that a call is waiting. You may ignore the tone or put your present call on hold and accept the waiting call.

To accept a waiting call:
· Depress Hold.
      Present call is held.
      The waiting call rings your instrument.
· Depress line button with flashing lamp.

To alternate between calls:
· Depress "Hold."

If caller you are speaking with disconnects:
· Depress line button with winking lamp.
      Reconnected with remaining party.

NOTE: Only one caller may wait on one line. Subsequent callers receive a busy tone.

Call Forwarding

Allows calls to be forwarded to another extension.

To forward all calls:
· Select line.
· Lift Handset.
· Depress Call Forwrd.
      Receive Confirmation Tone.
· Key in receiving extension number.
      Receive Confirmation Tone.
      Call Forward lamp remains steady.
· Replace Handset.

To cancel call forwarding:
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress Call Forwrd.
      Receive Confirmation Tone.
      Call Forward lamp extinguishes.

NOTE: When an incoming call is intended for the originating extension, a Zip Tone emits from that instrument. This acts as a reminder that calls are being forwarded. The extension to which calls are forwarded is the only extension which can place and transfer calls to the originator.

Abbreviated Dialing

Allows a personal directory of ten frequently called internal or external numbers per line. Assign each number a one-digit reference code (0-9).

To store or change a number:
· Select a line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress Abbrev Dial.
· Depress *.
      Abbreviated dial lamp remains steady.
· Key in reference number (0-9).
      Receive Confirmation Tone.
· Key in number to be stored.
      Receive Confirmation Tone.
· Replace handset.

To place a call:
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress Abbrev Dial.
· Key in reference number.
      Call is placed.

NOTE: If the stored number is outside the system, you must also store the access code of 9 preceding the outside number.

Call Park

Allows a call to be parked at a specified parking number for retrieval from any system extension.

To park a call:
· Depress Call Park.
      Voice Response Unit announces the parking number one time.
      Call Park lamp remains steady.
· Replace handset.
      Call Park lamp extinguishes.

To retrieve a parked call:
· Select line at any instrument.
· Lift handset.
· Key in parking number.
      Call is retrieved.

NOTE: If a parked call is not retrieved, it will return to the extension which parked it with a priority ring. The Call Park lamp and line lamp flash.

Conference Call

Allows up to three parties to be joined on one call. At least one system user must remain in the conference.

To add parties to existing conversation:
· Depress Conf.
      Receive dial tone.
      Conference lamp winks.
· Key in number.
· Announce conference.
· Depress Conf.
      Parties are connected.
      Conference lamp remains steady on any multibutton set included in the conference.

If the called line is busy or unanswered:
· Replace handset.
· Lift handset.
      Receive dial tone.
· Depress Conf.
      Connected with original party.

To place a conference on hold:
· Depress Conf.
      Receive dial tone.
      Conference lamp winks.
· Replace handset.

To retrieve a conference from hold:
· Lift handset.
      Receive dial tone.
· Depress Conf.
      Connected with conference.
      Conference lamp remains steady.

NOTE: Parties may continue conversation while on hold.

Callback-Busy

Allows a callback message to be left on a busy internal line. When the busy line becomes idle, the system will automatically call back.

To leave a callback-busy message:
· Depress Call Back.
      Receive a confirmation tone.
· Replace handset.

When called extension becomes idle:
Originating party receives a priority ring. Callback lamp and appropriate line lamp flash.
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
      Call is placed.

NOTE: If there is no answer at the originating station, the system cancels the callback. If a called extension has ten callback messages, reorder tone is returned.

Callback-No Answer

Allows a callback message to be left on an internal line that is not answered.

To leave a callback-no answer message:
· Depress Call Back.
      Receive confirmation tone.
· Replace handset.

To return a callback message:
The red line flutters when a callback message is waiting on that line.
· Depress line button with fluttering lamp.
· Lift handset.
· Depress Call Back.
      Originating party receives a priority ring.
      Callback lamp and appropriate line lamp flash.

NOTE: If a called extension has ten callback messages, reorder tone is returned.

On Line Queuing

Allows a station to be automatically placed in queue for an outside line while remaining off-hook. The Voice Response Unit informs you that all lines are busy. When a line becomes available, the call is placed.

Callback Queuing

Allows an external call to be placed in queue for an outside line. The Voice Response Unit provides instruction to queue. When an outside line becomes available, the system calls you back.

To queue:
· Depress Call Back.
      System announces queue number.
· Replace handset.

NOTE: The queue number is for reference when queuing multiple calls. Make a note of this number and the number dialed.

When a line becomes available:
A priority ring is returned.
The Callback lamp and the line lamp flash.
· Lift handset.
      System repeats the queue number and call is automatically placed.

To void queue:
· Replace handset after you receive the priority ring.

NOTE: If the extension is busy or unanswered, the system returns the callback a specified number of times. If unavailable on the last attempt, the queued call is cancelled.

Manually Initiated Feature Codes

Some features accessed by a feature button on the multibutton set may also be accessed by a feature code on the touchpad. The instructions for these features are listed below:

Abbreviated Dialing
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress #4*.
· Key in reference number (0-9).
      Receive confirmation tone.
· Key in number to be stored.
      Receive confirmation tone.
· Replace handset.

To Place a Call:
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress #4.
· Key in reference number.
      Call is placed.

Call Forwarding
To Activate:
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress *3.
      Receive confirmation tone.
· Key in receiving extension number.
      Receive confirmation tone.
· Replace handset.

To Cancel:
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress #3.
      Receive confirmation tone.
· Replace handset.

Last Number Redial
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress #9.
      Last external number is redialed.

Callback-No Answer
To return a callback message:
· Depress line button with fluttering lamp.
· Lift handset.
· Depress *7.

Call Pickup
· Select line.
· Lift handset.
· Depress #7.
      Ringing extension is retrieved.
