If you receive an email or visit a website that seems suspicious, check any links before you click on them. Even though a link appears legitimate, it could be fake, directing you to a fraudulent site.
To check where a link is actually going, don't click but hover over it with your mouse. In most cases, the actual web address will appear, usually at the bottom left corner of your mail / web broswer window. In Outlook, the address appears as a pop-up. If the address seems suspicious, don't click on the link. Instead, delete the mail message or close the website window.
Following this simple strategy can help protect you from phishing scams, malware infections, and other fraudulent activities.
