If you have a computer in the office (or at home) running Windows XP or Office 2003, it's time to start thinking about upgrading. Effective April 8, 2014, Microsoft will officially drop support for these products.
What does this mean? It means that Microsoft will no longer provide:
- security updates,
- non-security hotfixes,
- free or paid assisted support options, or
- online technical content updates.
Without these important resources, Computer Services may not be able to provide support. In addition, please be aware that because of hardware and driver compatibility issues, Computer Services will not upgrade computers running Windows XP to Windows 7 or Windows 8. Instead, replacing your computer is strongly recommended.
Please plan accordingly by evaluating your new hardware needs for the next fiscal year well in advance of this deadline. Consult with your school, college or departmental budget unit head and technical support staff for guidance.
