As you know, Temple's award winning Computer Recycling Center (CRC) recycles or properly disposes of Temple's surplus computers. But did you know that the CRC also handles all kinds of technology-related peripherals, storage devices, and media too?
Consider the CRC the next time you clean out your office and come across old technology items such as CDs, DVDs, USB storage devices, zip drives, floppy disks, magnetic tapes, VHS or cassette tapes, or hard drives. The CRC staff will come pick up these items and recycle or properly dispose of them. (Be sure to consider all data stored on these devices as sensitive and confidential. The CRC has the ability to securely destroy confidential and sensitive information but it is your responsibility to keep all items secure until they are picked up.)
Also add to the list monitors, keyboards, mice, cables, wires, speakers, power packs, batteries, chargers, toner, ink or peripherals. Many of these devices contain hazardous and toxic waste that must be handled properly due to EPA and PA State DEP guidelines.
For details on requesting a CRC pickup, see the CRC site.
