Classroom Repsonse Systems

To encourage active classroom participation, Temple instructors may use a classroom response system such as TurningPoint. Using response pads, also referred to as "clickers," students can answer questions, respond to surveys, take opinion polls, and much more. Vpads or virtual response pads that can be installed on a laptop, tablet PC, or pocket PC can also be used to participate.

Response systems can be used in either anonymous, individual, or team modes:

  • In the anonymous mode, instructors cannot identify individual student responses. This mode is most commonly used for surveys and opinion polls.
  • In the individual mode, instructors can create participant lists to identify individual responses. This mode is frequently used to take attendance.
  • In the team mode, students participate in groups. Instructors can identify which students are in which groups but cannot identify individual responses.

Purchase a Response Pad

In addition to the campus bookstore, students can now purchase Turning Point response pad (clickers) at a discount directly from the Turning Technologies online store. The onlne price is $30 plus shipping.

Once you get your response pad, you must register the Response Pad ID before you can use it in class. Registering associates your response pad’s unique ID to your name and TUid.

Once your response pad has been registered to you, it cannot be registered to anyone else. Also, once you register a response pad, you cannot register another one. Therefore, if you loose and purchase a replacement response pad, you must edit your response pad registration to change the Response Pad ID number associated with you. Also, if you sell your response pad, you must deactivate your response pad registration before the person who purchased your response pad can register.

To register, change, or deactivate your response pad, log in below with your AccessNet username and password and then fill out the requested information.
