News Items for Fall 2009 Shop smart with software discounts Temple staff are eligible to receive discounts on the purchase of software. These educational prices are possible through a partnership that Temple has with a number of vendors. To qualify for the reduced prices, you may need to confirm your University status by faxing a copy of your Temple ID to the company. If you use a computer to perform your regular job duties, you are entitled to install one copy of selected Microsoft software at no charge on a personally owned computer. This benefit is available for work-related purposes only through the Microsoft Work-At-Home Software Distribution Program. In addition to educational software discounts, Temple also offers Symantec antivirus software for home use. For a small fee, you can purchase this software on a CD and receive periodic updates to protect your computer from viruses. Change your password twice a year Your AccessNet username and TUsecure password give you access to a variety of resources at Temple. To enhance the security of these resources, all members of the Temple Community are required to change their password every 180 days. Prior to the expiration date, Computer Services will e-mail a reminder to you. To change your password, log in to accounts.temple.edu with your current password and then click Your password. Note: If your password does expire, you will not have access to Temple general resources but you can log in to accounts.temple.edu with your current password to change it. For additional information about TUsecure and password requirements, visit the TUsecure web site. Personalize your e-mail address When you received your AccessNet account, you were given an account name that is displayed as your e-mail address. Frequently, that address includes letters and numbers such as tuc47812@temple.edu. You do not have the option to change your AccessNet account name, but you can create an alternate e-mail name known as an alias. You can then use the alias to personalize your address.
