1. Go to http://download.temple.edu

2. Log in with your AccessNet username and password.

3. Under Software Title, click on Ad-Aware Plus.

4. After you read the University Staff/Faculty Users Acceptance form, click on I agree.

5. After you read the instructions, click on Download.

Note: If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2, a white bar will display under the location window of your browser. Click on the bar and then select Download File. Then, at the File Download - Security Warning window, click on Save.

6. At the Save As window, select Desktop and then click on Save. The program will start to download.

7. At the Download complete window, click on Close.

8. Locate the TempleAdAwareInstall file on your Desktop and double-click on in to start the installation process.

Note:  If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2, the Open File - Security Warning window will display. Click on Run.

9. At the TEMPLE UNIVERSITY ADAWARE DISTRIBUTION window, warranty information and a notice to check your e-mail will display.

10. After you read the warranty, click on Agree.

11. Next, log in to your TUmail account and open the message from “Temple University Download Manager.”

12. After you read the instructions, click on the link.

13. At the YOU ARE ONE STEP AWAY... window, click on GET PASSPHRASE.

14. At the Confidential window, read the instructions and print the page to confirm that you have a license.

15. Then, copy the passphrase, paste it into the Self-Extracting Archive window, and then click on OK.

16. At the Ad-Aware SE Plus window, click on Next.

17. After you read the License Agreement, click on I accept the license agreement and then click on Next.

18. At the Destination Location window you can select the destination folder or accept the default setting and then click on Next.

19. At the Install to All Users menu window, accept the default setting and then click on Next.

22. At the Start Installation window, click on Next.

21. When installation is complete, a window similar to the following will display:

By default, each of the boxes has a checkmark. Instructions for updating the definition file and performing a full system scan are provided in the next section. Click on the checkmark to deselect each option and then click on Finish to complete the installation process.

II. Performing a system scan

Note: The scanning process could take at least 15 minutes or more If this is the first time that you are scanning your computer or if you haven't scanned your computer in a month or more.

1. Double-click on the Ad-Aware SE Plus shortcut icon on your desktop.

Note: The Ad-Watch SE Plus icon will also display on your desktop. If you wish to review details about any spyware that Ad-Aware is currently monitoring, double-click on this icon.

2. At the Ad-Aware SE Status window, click on Check for updates now.

3. At the Performing WebUpdate... window, click on Connect.

4. If a window indicates that a new definition file is available, click on OK to download and install the file.

5. When the definition file has been downloaded and installed, the Performing WebUpdate... window displays a "Webupdate complete..." message. Then, click on Finish.

 6. At the Ad-Aware SE Status window, click on Start.

7. At the Preparing System Scan window, click on Perform full system scan and then click on Next.

8. While Ad-Aware is scanning your computer, a window similar to the one below will display.

9. When Ad-Aware SE Plus has finished scanning your computer, the Scan Complete screen displays a flashing bug. Click on Next.

10. The Scanning Results screen displays the spyware items detected by Ad-Aware SE Plus. To remove a specific item, click on the checkbox to the left of the item; to remove all items, right click on any item and choose Select All Objects. Generally, it is advisable to remove all items.

11. Then, a green checkmark displays in the box next to the selected item(s). Click on Next.

12. A screen displays the number of objects selected to be removed. Click on OK.

13. At the Ad-Aware SE Status window, Usage Statistics for the scan are displayed. Click on the red "X" in the upper right side of the window to close the program.
