Computer Services goes to great lengths to ensure a secure University computing environment. We recently introduced the TUsecure campaign requiring stronger passwords and security questions, we are installing a more robust firewall, we apply the latest system patches, and we alert and inform the University community of potential security scams and threats.
For Computer Services, being aware of security is a constant priority. We are always looking for ways to make the most of the resources available to protect your personal information. In this regard, I would like to remind you about a valuable program available through Human Resources called Identity Theft Shield. As stated on the Human Resources web site:
The Identity Theft Shield was developed to help you protect your identity AND your credit. This unique protection service provides you with a credit report, detailed analysis of your credit score, continuous credit monitoring and instant activity alerts. However, the biggest advantage is full restoration of your good name and credit by licensed fraud investigators. The plan covers both employee and spouse/domestic partner for $12.95 per month paid by credit card or electronically from your checking account.
I have signed up for the Identity Theft Shield program and would recommend it to you. With the widespread online use and storage of private information covering all aspects of our lives, identity theft remains a troubling issue and this program can offer some protection. To learn more about Identity Theft Shield, please see the on the Human Resources web site.
Thank you.
