The current TUmail system is almost six years old and is reaching the end of its lifecycle. To ensure that Temple’s e-mail remains first-class, Computer Services needs to upgrade this resource.
Computer Services is pleased to announce that we will implement a new e-mail system for students and employees. Note that these changes will not effect your @temple.edu e-mail address or aliases. (12/1)
- Log in to tuportal.temple.edu and you will see a Temple Building section listing Main Campus building codes, a link to their corresponding name, and a satellite photo showing their exact location. Simply click on the building code link to access the name and location information. (8/29)

Temple now has a new wireless network for Main Campus and the Health Sciences Center called wifi4owls. Connecting to this new network is very easy, as you no longer have to register your wireless adapter, manually configure wireless network settings, and set proxy settings on your browser.

- Temple University was hit with two phishing attacks yesterday. One of the two phishing attacks was particularly sophisticated as the phisher created a duplicate website to TUmail by stealing our graphics. The subject of the phishing scam message may appear as "URGENT SECURITY UPDATE." Please do not respond to this e-mail. The link in the e-mail will take you to the phisher’s web site.

- On July 22nd, Timothy Plumer, Senior Adobe Solutions Engineer, hosted a Webinar for the Temple community. He demonstrated Acrobat 9 features for converting almost any file into a polished PDF file, presenting multiple documents in a PDF portfolio, and adding multimedia in a single file. The webinar is available online.

- On Monday, July 28, Temple successfully launched the newly reengineered TUportal. The improved portal is the first major component of Project Enterprise, a multi-million dollar initiative to replace Temple’s administrative systems with SunGard’s Banner system. The scope of Project Enterprise includes upgrading the University’s finance, human resources, student information and advancement systems, as well as numerous other administrative systems.
With the upgrade, TUportal continues as the hub for accessing Temple’s major systems and online services. In addition to technical improvements, TUportal also sports a redesigned streamlined look, more customized announcements, plus access to familiar TUportal resources.
Stay tuned for more news on the progress of Project Enterprise. Over the next several years, new systems will be rolled out, bringing resources together into a modern integrated system platform. Up next is the replacement of the finance system, with completion scheduled for July 2009. (7/29)

- Computer Services has begun the process of locking the accounts of users who have not changed their passwords. If your account is locked, you will not be able to use Temple's technology resources until you change your password by going to the following web site: accounts.temple.edu

- Please be aware that a new phishing e-mail has shown up in the inbox of several Temple users this morning. This phishing e-mail was crafted to look very much like a legitimate Temple email. Please do not respond to this e-mail as you will be giving a hacker your login credentials. To be clear, the phishing scam asks you to reply by e-mail with your AccessNet username and password. This particular email uses Temple’s TUmail graphics so that it appears to be coming from our webmail system. (5/19)

- Today, the University was hit with an e-mail scam. This particular e-mail has a subject line of “FINAL VERIFICATION OF YOUR TEMPLE EMAIL ACCOUNT” and appears to come from an address called TEMPLE TEAM. This is an unauthorized attempt to gain your personal and confidential information.
DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL. Delete it if you receive a copy. If you reply, you will be sending your credentials to an unauthorized party. Computer Services is making every effort to block the recipient’s address but these criminals are resourceful, they may change the address and resend the message.
