About
The Technology Support & Development Office provides a
variety of technology support services for students, faculty, and staff.
Major functions include:
- Help Desk and Technical Support
The Help Desk serves as the
front-line of contact for all of Computer Services, including
Telecommunications. Its aim is to meeting the computer support needs
of the Temple University community by providing accurate and
professional technical solutions. The Help Desk consults with
clients in person, through e-mail, and telephone and assist
customers of all skill levels.
- Desktop/LAN Support
The Desktop/LAN Support group provides on-site
technical support and services on workstations and Local Area Networks
for departments throughout the University. Services include technical
consultations, system administration services, and maintenance of
computer hardware, software, and networks. The group also assists
departments with antivirus and software auditing services.
- Integrated Systems and Emerging Technologies
The Integrated Systems and Emerging Technologies
group
provides front-end support for the University mail and portal systems,
and assists departments by creating client server solutions, typically
database web applications. This group also provides support through
research, installation, configuration, and maintenance of various
server systems including Oracle databases.
The group assists Temple University departments in designing,
developing, and maintaining departmental Web sites and other Web-based
resources.
- Communications and Technical
Documentation
The Communications and Technical Documentation group
produces technical documentation in print and online formats to
educate the Temple University community about computer technology. The
unit is responsible for the production of numerous technical
publications, newsletters, and “how-to” guides. The
group also maintains the Computer Services Departmental Web site and
internal Intranet, and provides overall marketing and public relations
services for the Computer Services Department.
