Temple Hosts Internet2 Broadcast Series On Wednesday evening, November 16, 2005, the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference (CMENC) chapter in the Boyer College of Music and Dance hosted Temple’s second in a series of Internet2 broadcasts. The event was the first in a series of Internet2 lectures and master classes sponsored by Dean Robert T. Stroker and hosted by CMENC. Joe Williams, from Computer Services, coordinated the technology between the Internet2 sites. The featured guest of the event was Dr. Christopher Azzara, an Associate Professor in the Eastman School of Music. Dr. Azzara is an accomplished jazz pianist, music educator, and scholar. He presented on the topic of Improvisation in Music Education from Eastman to audiences at Temple and Eastman simultaneously. During the presentation, Dr. Azzara spoke about ways of understanding creativity and improvisation in the music learning process, guided those in attendance through music improvisation activities, and ended the evening with an impromptu performance for the audiences. On February 1, 2006, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Dr. Alison Reynolds, Associate Professor of Music Education in the Boyer College and Dr. Colleen Conway, Associate Professor of Music Education in the School of Music at the University of Michigan will make a joint presentation for music education students at both universities. Dr. Alison Reynolds serves as the coordinator for Boyer’s Internet2 presentations, with the assistance of officers and members of CMENC.
