Assistance for Student Housing Residents Students in Temple’s residence halls (with the exception of Franklin House) have access to a high speed University Internet connection in their rooms. Click here for instructions on how to get connected. If you have questions or problems, the Computer Services Help Desk (215-204-8000) is available to assist you. Our consultants will try to get you connected over the phone. If there is some problem with your Internet connection, or with your computer, that prevents you from getting connected, we can schedule a consultant to visit your room to try and resolve the problem. We can also visit your room if you are unable to install the required University Symantec AntiVirus software on your computer or if you are having other problems related to computer viruses and/or spyware. All consultations in student rooms are done by appointment only. The maximum time allotted for consultant visits is one hour. During this time, we will make a best effort to resolve the problem with your computer and Internet connection. It is likely that your computer may have a problem that cannot be resolved in the one hour time frame. In this case, you should contact the Help Desk to make an appointment to bring your computer to our PC Clinic. At various times throughout the year, the Help Desk may experience a surge of calls from students experiencing problems with their computers. During these periods, we can become backlogged due to demand for appointments. Fortunately, most of the issues we have encountered are entirely preventable and you can avoid seeing us if you perform proper maintenance on your system. Trojan horses, and other malicious software will make themselves at home on your computer if you fail to apply Windows Updates and run antivirus and antispyware system scans. |
