Configuring Thunderbird 2.0 for TU Gmail

 

To access your TU Gmail account using Thunderbird 2, you must:

  1. Enable IMAP.
  2. Configure Thunderbird 2.0.
  3. Verify password synchronization with Google.

   

To configure Thunderbird 2.0:

1. Open Thunderbird, then select Tools > Account Settings.

2. Click Server Settings and then make the following changes:

a. In the Server Name field, enter imap.gmail.com

b. In the User Name field, enter your AccessNet username@temple.edu address.

c. Verify that the Port field is 993.

d. Under Security Settings, verify that SSL is selected.

3. Click Outgoing Server (SMTP), select the server settings, and click Edit.

4. At the SMTP Server dialog box, make the following changes:

a. In the Server Name field, enter smtp.gmail.com

b. Verify that the Port field is 465.

c. In the User Name field, enter your AccessNet username@temple.edu address.

d. Verify that SSL is selected.

e. Click OK.

 

5. Finally, at Account Settings click OK.
