Configuring Outlook 2007 for TU Gmail

 

To access your TU Gmail account using Outlook 2007, you must:

  1. Enable IMAP.
  2. Configure Outlook 2007.
  3. Verify password synchronization with Google.

   

To configure Outlook 2007:

1. Open Outlook, then select Tools > Account Settings.

2. Select the account name you want to edit and then click Change.

3. At the Internet E-mail Settings window, do the following:

a. In the Incoming mail server field, enter imap.gmail.com

b. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field, enter smtp.gmail.com

c. In the User Name field, enter your AccessNet username@temple.edu address.

d. Verify that the "Remember password" box is NOT selected.

e. Click More Settings.

4. Click the Outgoing Server tab and verify that the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" box is selected.

5. Click the Advanced tab and verify the following:

a. The Incoming server (IMAP) port is 993 and the "...encrypted connection" field is SSL.

b. The Outgoing server (SMTP) port is 587 and the "...encrypted connection" field is TLS.

  6. Click OK > Next > Finish > Close.
