This section describes how to configure, enable, and disable the proxy server information when using a wireless 802.11b (Wi-Fi) connection along with Netcape 4.0 and later. These instructions apply to you if you are connecting to Temple's wireless network zones, with the exception of the Law School.

Configuring the proxy information
1. Click on the Edit menu and select Preferences.
2. On the left side of the Preferences window under Category, click on the plus symbol (+) or triangle next to Advanced.
3. Click on Proxies.
4. Then on the right side of the window, click on Automatic proxy configuration and type in the text box: gate.temple.edu:8080
5. Click on OK.
6. Close and restart Netscape. Your browser is now configured to use the proxy server.

Now, when connected to the Internet, your web session will be directed through Temple's proxy server and you will be prompted to enter your AccessNet username and password. 

You would only want to do this if you are connecting to a wireless network at Temple or if you are connecting from home and want to access Temple's restricted resources.  Otherwise, you should disable the proxy information and enable it only when needed.

Disabling the proxy server
1. Click on the Edit menu and select Preferences.
2. On the left side of the Preferences window under Category, click on the plus symbol (+) or triangle next to Advanced.
3. Click on Proxies.
4. Click on Direct connection to the Internet.
5. Click on OK.
6. Close and restart Netscape.

Re-enabling the proxy server
1. Click on the Edit menu and select Preferences.
2. On the left side of the Preferences window under Category, click on the plus symbol (+) or triangle next to Advanced.
3. Click on Proxies.
4. Click on Automatic proxy configuration.
5. Click on OK.
6. Close and restart Netscape.
