This section describes how to configure, enable, and disable the
proxy server information for the Macintosh version of Firefox. It is best to configure the Web browser to go through the proxy server using the instructions below and then disable the
settings until the next time you use Temple's wireless network or a public-access laptop Internet port, or the next time you access Temple's library databases. Otherwise, your Internet connection may
be slowed down.
1. Click on the Firefox menu and select
Preferences.
2. Under the Connection heading, click on the Connection Settings button to the right of Set up Proxies for accessing the internet.
3. Click on Manual proxy configuration.
4. In the HTTP Proxy box, type: gate.temple.edu
5. In the associated Port box, type: 8080
6. Click on OK to exit the Configure Proxies to Access the Internet window. Then click on OK to exit the Preferences window.
